Description

I am selling my 1996 Land Rover Defender 110 3 door, this truck has an Alucab Icarus roof conversion done and is built out for full time travel. I have done a lot of work to the truck to make it comfortable and reliable for long distance trips and full time living. This truck has taken me all over the United States and Canada for the last two years and hasn’t left me stranded. This truck has the 300tdi engine, r380 trans, lt230 t-case, and Salisbury axles. It is a completely mechanical drivetrain with the only electronics being the switches and circuits that operate lights. I was on my way back to Denver when the alternator died, and while I lost the lights, I drove the truck another 4hrs back as the motor/drivetrain doesn’t require power. She will do 75-80mph if you really want her to, but I usually cruise around 65-70mph, and if you’re pulling steep mtn passes in Colorado you’ll probably slow down to about 45-50mph. Fuel economy averages about 24-26mpg, with miserable headwinds dropping you to 22mpg, and with a nice tailwind bringing you up to 30mpg. Not bad for a full time 4wd brick. The drivetrain is in good condition, the motor doesn’t burn oil and has no blow by. She starts up in the cold just fine (-17° near Leadville is the coldest I’ve had her) and she doesn’t overheat (have driven in 100° heat through Utah and the Midwest). The transmission is in good condition as well as the t-case and axles. The truck is in good condition overall, there is some rust on the lower bulkhead, and the frame has been patched around the outriggers and has had the rear crossmember replaced. My intent when purchasing the truck was to drive it around the world, so I have about $10,000 worth of rebuild kits and a new frame sitting at the shop for it, I was going to do a full rebuild before this trip. It is definitely not needed, as I still regularly drive it cross country and offroad in the condition it’s in, I am just anal about maintenance and wanted to touch everything on the truck before stepping out on THAT big of a trip. Send me any questions you have, my life has taken a slight turn and I am looking for a truck that can be used for both work and travel, so I may be open to very specific trades, but otherwise I am asking $60,000 for the truck plus everything I have bought for it. Will deliver anywhere in the lower 48 for serious buyer.
